Soccer Game Preview: Kirtland vs. Waterloo

The Kirtland Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Waterloo Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Kirtland fell victim to Chagrin Falls and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Kirtland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Chagrin Falls are ranked 86th).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Waterloo was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Jackson-Milton could gain the upper hand on Wednesday so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw. The outcome might've been different if Sam Russell hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Mason Biltz and Garrett Clites scored all three of Waterloo's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 32 goals.

Kirtland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6-3 record this season. Waterloo's draw gives them a new season record of 5-11-1.
