Baseball Recap: Rye Takes a Loss

Rye had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it four. They came up short against the Buena Vista Demons, falling 21-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbolts of the 15-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Buena Vista, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-7. Considering they have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Buena Vista's part, Logan Scott was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave Scott a new career-high. Knox Reid was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Rye will head out on the road to face off against Rangely at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbolts will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Buena Vista, they will host Monte Vista at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
