Softball Game Preview: Patriot Warriors vs. Jurupa Valley Jaguars

For the second straight game, Patriot will face off against Jurupa Valley. The Warriors will square off against the Jaguars at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Patriot has eight straight victories, Jurupa Valley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Patriot got the win against Jurupa Valley by a conclusive 12-1. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by 11 runs or more this season.

Miley Gates made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Gates was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Maynard, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jenelle Vera, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Patriot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Patriot's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Jurupa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
