Soccer Game Preview: Central Academy vs. Piedmont

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Central Academy face off against Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Academy has given up an average of 4.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Central Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Sun Valley on Tuesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 7-0. The Cougars have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Piedmont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Give the Panthers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Piedmont now has a winning record of 3-2-2. As for Central Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Central Academy might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Piedmont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Central Academy was down 4-0.
