Maine East and Maine West are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Blue Demons will challenge the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Maine East and five for Maine West.

Maine East lost 12-5 to Vernon Hills on Thursday.

Jackson Slamowitz and Kam'Ryn Thompson did some serious damage despite the final result: Slamowitz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Thompson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Maine West fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Highland Park on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Giants.

Maine West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Bruno, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Maine East's record now sits at 2-12. As for Maine West, their record is now 4-13.

Maine East was able to grind out a solid win over Maine West when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Demons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
