Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Pasquotank County Panthers
Currituck County is 10-0 against Pasquotank County since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Currituck County Knights will look to defend their home court against the Pasquotank County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Currituck County lost to Hertford County on the road by a decisive 65-47 margin.
Despite the defeat, Currituck County got a solid performance out of Luke Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Morgan scored a full 29.8% of Currituck County's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Walter Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, Pasquotank County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The contest between Pasquotank County and Northside - Pinetown wasn't particularly close, with Pasquotank County falling 65-50. While losing is never fun, Pasquotank County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Northside - Pinetown is ranked 82nd).
Despite the loss, Pasquotank County saw an underclassman step up: Tristan Peterson scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The game was Peterson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Kuhn, who scored 13 points.
Pasquotank County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northside - Pinetown racked up 17.
Currituck County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Pasquotank County, they bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Currituck County came out on top in a nail-biter against Pasquotank County when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 53-51. Will Currituck County repeat their success, or does Pasquotank County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
