Softball Recap: Three Straight Road Victories for Pontiac

Pontiac won the last time they faced Lincoln and things went their way on Thursday too. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Railsplitters a 5-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Elena Krause was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Krause wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Collins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. India Mattingly also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Pontiac pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-16 record this season.

Pontiac will host Coal City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians are facing the Coalers at the right time seeing as the Coalers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lincoln, they will venture away from home to square off against Mahomet-Seymour at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
