Softball Recap: Ore City Comes Up Short at Home Against Pittsburg

Ore City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Pittsburg Pirates by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Rebels just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Kayla Peckham made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Brooke Byrd was another key player, scoring a run and stealing one base while going 1-for-2.

Ore City has already played their next match (against Gladewater), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pittsburg will challenge Liberty-Eylau at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
