Baseball Recap: Torrey Pines Comes Up Short

If Torrey Pines was riding high fresh off their 11-5 takedown of St. Augustine last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Poway Titans on Tuesday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Torrey Pines saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Stroot, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Torrey Pines' loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Poway, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will take on Vista Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Poway, they will host St. Augustine at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.8, the Saints 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
