Basketball Recap: Covington Academy Takes a Loss

Covington Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The match between them and the HALO Wolfpack didn't end well, with the Covington Academy Bulldogs falling 77-58. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 84-55 last Tuesday.

HALO's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trenton Grissom led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 29 points, 11 boards, and 13 assists. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Grissom has scored at least a third of HALO's points. Kenneth Haynes was another key player, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds.

Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for HALO, they pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

When Covington Academy and HALO next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Covington Academy will challenge Hills Academy and their eight-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, HALO will try to stop Georgia Force Christian's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
