Softball Game Preview: Stoneman Douglas Eagles vs. Western Wildcats

Stoneman Douglas is 1-9 against Western since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Stoneman Douglas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Stoneman Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Coral Glades. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kaitlin Enright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Stoneman Douglas let Paige Kalvaitis and Rebecca Perez run wild. Kalvaitis went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Perez went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Kalvaitis has posted over her last nine contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Ferro, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Western played against Taravella on Monday and won via forfeit.

Stoneman Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Western, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.

Stoneman Douglas might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Western when the teams last played back in February. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
