Basketball Recap: Live Oak Comes Up Short

Live Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Ascension Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Spartans are ranked 18th).

Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for East Ascension, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Live Oak will host Denham Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Denham Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 games -- so hopefully Live Oak likes a good challenge. East Ascension has already played their next contest (against Prairieville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
