Basketball Recap: El Primero Lobos vs. KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack

If the El Primero Lobos were riding high off their 55-26 takedown of the Mountain View Academy Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between El Primero and the Wolfpack wasn't particularly close, with the Lobos falling 49-30. El Primero lost against the Wolfpack in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-19 score last time.

Several Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JOSH CHAVEZ, who scored eight points along with ten steals and seven rebounds. CHAVEZ hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. GUSTAVO MALVAES was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.

El Primero's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

El Primero will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. DCP Alum Rock has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, they will head out on the road to face off against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Mid-Peninsula: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Wolfpack have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
