Spruce Creek barely beat Matanzas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.

Spruce Creek was led to victory by Logan Milan and Evelyn Webb. Milan had 32 digs and four assists, while Webb had 15 assists and five digs. Milan has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played. Khloe Jackson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Despite the defeat, Matanzas had strong showings from Analise Smith, who had eight digs and seven assists, and Haley Stewart, who had 15 assists and ten digs.

Spruce Creek's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Matanzas, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Spruce Creek will square off against Forest at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Matanzas, they will take on Winter Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
