If Florence was riding high fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Anthem Prep on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gophers lost 9-3 to the St. Johns Redskins on Friday. The Gophers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Alessandra Felix made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Burris, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for St. Johns, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Florence will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayden at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gophers are facing the Lobos at the right time seeing as the Lobos are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for St. Johns, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-6 loss against Verrado on the 19th.
