Basketball Recap: James Nowells' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Olympia over Apopka

Olympia was the 67-30 winner over Apopka when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Olympia Titans took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apopka Blue Darters.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Nowells, who posted 19 points. The game was Nowells' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan ?JJ? Watts, who scored eight points and eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Apopka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jude Angervil, who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points. Jermichael Johnson was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points.

Olympia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Apopka, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Olympia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-53 win against Oviedo on the 28th. Apopka has also already played their next contest, a 57-48 defeat against Bartow on the 31st.
