Softball Game Preview: Oakland Mills Scorpions vs. Glenelg Gladiators

Oakland Mills hasn't had much luck against Glenelg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scorpions will face off against the Gladiators at 4:00 p.m. Oakland Mills has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oakland Mills is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Long Reach, falling 15-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Scorpions' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

I Munoz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Glenelg came out on top against Howard on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Gladiators' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Glenelg is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oakland Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Oakland Mills might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Glenelg when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
