Recap: Hazen Bison vs. Westhope/Newburg Sioux

The Hazen Bison were the 51-49 winner over the Westhope/Newburg Sioux when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hazen received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 70-52 to Westhope/Newburg. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hazen has scored all season.

Westhope/Newburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Walker Braaten, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Braaten has scored at least 25% of Westhope/Newburg's points. Another player making a difference was Will Artz, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Hazen's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Westhope/Newburg, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Hazen will finish 2023 at home by hosting Our Redeemer's Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westhope/Newburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Powers Lake at 11:00 a.m. on December 30th.
