Basketball Recap: Hubbard Takes a Loss

Hubbard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 55-45 to the Slocum Mustangs. The match was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but the Jaguars couldn't quite close it out.

Defeat or not, Hubbard got some senior leadership from Anthony Weverka and Keyvonyai Hawthorne. Weverka dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards, while Hawthorne went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five boards. Weverka is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last six games he's played.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Slocum, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Blooming Grove the next time they take the court. Hubbard will head out to face Blooming Grove at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Slocum will host them at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
