Volleyball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Mitchell Mountaineers by a score of 3-2. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mountaineers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Eva Greer paced Madison's offense, picking up 19 kills. Greer got some help from Meredith Gault and her 42 assists.

As for Mitchell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 9th.

Mitchell found their leader in freshman Avery Benfield, who had 17 digs and five aces. With that strong performance, Benfield is now averaging an impressive 12.2 assists per game.

Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mitchell, they will host Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
