III Southern recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in III Southern this week, Mountain View Christian beat Laughlin 46-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Mountain View Christian took down the Cougars 46-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Meadows's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jacob Gleason threw for 41 and 1 touchdown and Nathan Devera had 24 yards receiving. On the ground Bryson Navallo chipped in 122 yards.
Navallo was a passing and rushing force as the Mustangs defeated Agassi Prep. Navallo's key target this week was Devera, who caught 3 passes for 24 yards.
Navallo was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 122 yards on 28 carries as Meadows topped Agassi Prep. Teammate Devera added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.
Meadows' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gleason has thrown for 455 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Conor Cheek has 8 catches for 127 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Calvary Chapel Christian takes on Frank DeSantis' team. The Lions are in seventh place, while the Mustangs are in second place.
Mike Valenzuela's team led III Southern in scoring this week by notching 46 points on Laughlin.
