Basketball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. New Philadelphia Quakers

The Lexington Minutemen will venture away from home to square off against the New Philadelphia Quakers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lexington took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They strolled past Wooster with points to spare, taking the game 57-41.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for New Philadelphia against Alliance on Wednesday as the team secured a 57-8 victory. Given the Quakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Aviators are ranked 727th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Philadelphia is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Lexington, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10.

Lexington came out on top in a nail-biter against New Philadelphia in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 46-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lexington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
