Baseball Recap: Hope Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Exeter-West Greenwich, Hope was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Classical Lady Purple/Athena. This was a revenge game for the Blue Wave: when they faced off against the Lady Purple/Athena last Wednesday, they had to take a 17-0 defeat.

Josh Tejada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Hope's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Classical, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

Coming up, Hope will challenge Woonsocket at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Villa Novans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Blue Wave's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Classical, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against North Smithfield on the 4th.
