Basketball Recap: Malcolm's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Malcolm was the 54-47 winner over Lincoln Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Malcolm Clippers received a blow on Friday as they fell 82-65 to the Lincoln Christian Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Clippers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Crusaders are ranked third).

When it comes to explaining why Malcolm lost, don't look at Payton Dolliver. Despite the final result, she went 9-for-17 en route to 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 36.9% of Malcolm's points, marking the fourth time in a row Dolliver has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylor Bratrsovsky, who scored 13 points.

Mattea Kassebaum was her usual excellent self, shooting 75% from beyond the arc to rack up 35 points in addition to six assists and five boards for Lincoln Christian. Kassebaum's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Jessa Hueser was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

The loss snapped Malcolm's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-11 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Lincoln Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 25-0.

Malcolm does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-45 victory against North Bend Central on the 5th.
