Iota is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Pine Prairie is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Iota Bulldogs will welcome the Pine Prairie Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Iota 3.9, Pine Prairie 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Wednesday. Iota walked away with a 6-1 victory over Jennings.
Addison Cormier was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Chloe Darbonne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Iota hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Pine Prairie had just enough and edged out North Vermilion 5-3 on Tuesday.
Kynnedi Ware spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Fontenot, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Josie Vidrine, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Iota is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Pine Prairie's win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Iota hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Pine Prairie struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Iota suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Pine Prairie in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Iota have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
