Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Mundelein Mustangs

The Barrington Fillies/Broncos will take on the Mundelein Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Barrington 3.6, Mundelein 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Barrington is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since April 23rd on Friday. They fell just short of Glenbrook North by a score of 3-1. The Fillies/Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Barrington got a good showing from Dylan Ignacek, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ignacek has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Barrington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Ostergaaurd, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mundelein was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Loyola Academy.

Barrington's loss dropped their record down to 20-11-1. As for Mundelein, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-9-2.

Everything went Barrington's way against Mundelein in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Barrington made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Fillies/Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
