Recap: Dawson Eagles vs. Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles
On Friday, Dawson came up short against Fort Bend Willowridge and fell 50-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dawson came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Fort Bend Willowridge is ranked 243rd).
Despite the loss, Dawson still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Smith, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Ford, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Dawson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-6 record this season. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.
Dawson will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Port Arthur Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Port Arthur Memorial is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Fort Bend Willowridge and Clear Creek will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at. Clear Creek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
