Soccer Recap: Wekiva Comes Up Short

Wekiva lost against Oak Ridge back in December of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wekiva Mustangs fell just short of the Oak Ridge Pioneers by a score of 3-2. One thing that didn't help the Mustangs' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Nathaniel Ellis.

David Bohdert and Billy Pu Lopez scored both of Wekiva's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Wekiva has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-1 record this season. As for Oak Ridge, they pushed their record up to 6-4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Wekiva will take on East River in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wekiva is facing East River at the right time seeing as East River is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Oak Ridge and Lake Howell will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
