League recap: Granville Central's Thomas delivers best pitching performance from past week

2A/1A Carolina 12 league recap: 4/3/13

2A/1A Carolina 12's top pitcher this week was Granville Central's Peyton Thomas. He picked up one win and nine strikeouts.

South Granville trails Northwood by just 1 game in the league standings, which means there could be a new first-place team by next week.

Roxboro Community struck out a league-leading 46 times over the past week. Roxboro Community has struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 84 strikeouts.

Carrboro led the league with 32 runs scored this week, but the Vikings still hold the season lead with 80 runs.

The league boasted nine .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Lee Whitt, who hit .750 by going 3-for-4.



Roxboro Community's Jarren Winstead led the league in strikeouts this week with ten. With 19 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fourth in the league.

Trent Watkins threw a shutout as he led Franklin Academy to victory over Webb, 1-0, on Thursday. He struck out nine, allowing two hits.
