Basketball Recap: Cloverleaf Comes Up Short

Cloverleaf was the 72-67 winner over Firelands when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cloverleaf Colts opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-50 loss to the Firelands Falcons. The contest marked the Colts' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Cloverleaf's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Firelands, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cloverleaf won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bard Early College at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cloverleaf is facing Bard Early College at the right time seeing as Bard Early College is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Firelands, they will take on Keystone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Firelands has won six straight at home, while Keystone won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
