Baseball Recap: Cottondale Takes a Loss

If Cottondale was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Paxton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost 9-1 to the Madison County Cowboys on Thursday.

Cottondale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Barton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cottondale has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Madison County, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Looking ahead, Cottondale will head out on the road to challenge Poplar Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison County, they will be playing at home against Godby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
