Softball Game Preview: Sulligent Blue Devils vs. Belgreen Bulldogs

The Sulligent Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Belgreen Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Sulligent turned things around against Shoals Christian on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Flame.

Addison Heath looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Macie Lightsey was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Anna Claire Baughn, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Sulligent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shoals Christian only posted a batting average of .188.

Meanwhile, Belgreen gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Red Bay. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Mackinley Hogan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Charley Hogan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Sulligent's record is now 6-8. As for Belgreen, their record now sits at 8-3-1.
