Baseball Recap: Collinsville Extends Home Winning Streak to 15

Collinsville came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Sylvania Rams as they made off with a 16-4 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gavin Lang made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jake Middlebrooks was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper(Jameson) Coker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Collinsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Collinsville pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sylvania, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Collinsville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sylvania: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
