Father Lopez extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Atlantic Sharks. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Liam McKinley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Westen Brownlee, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
As for Atlantic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.
On Atlantic's side, they got a great performance from Nicolas Lutton as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Lutton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Sharks are 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Josiah Perez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Atlantic is undefeated when Perez posts two or more runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Zac Jerkins was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Father Lopez and Atlantic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Green Wave will face off against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atlantic, they will head out to face off against North Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
