Ardrey Kell is a perfect 5-0 against Palisades since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Knights will challenge the Pumas at 5:30 p.m. Ardrey Kell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Ardrey Kell is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mooresville just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 12-4 to the Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since March 25, 2024.
Ardrey Kell saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janey Galek, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Reagan Martin was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Palisades came out on top against Ballantyne Ridge on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Pumas blew past the Wolves 15-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pumas considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Zahria Montgomery was incredible, firing off four doubles, three RBI, and two runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gracie Goodrich also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Palisades kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Palisades is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Ardrey Kell, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Palisades' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ardrey Kell has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Palisades, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Ardrey Kell's sizable advantage in that area, the Pumas will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ardrey Kell took their win against Palisades when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
