Soccer Game Preview: Douglas County vs. Castle View

Douglas County is 1-8 against Castle View since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Huskies will head out to challenge the Sabercats at 6:30 p.m. Douglas County has given up an average of 4.1 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Douglas County is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to Chaparral. While losing is never fun, Douglas County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Chaparral are ranked 30th).

Douglas County was without their leading scorer, Peyton Michael, in Tuesday's contest. With Michael sitting this one out, Alexandria Smith got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 60).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Castle View was not quite Boulder's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Castle View couldn't push the score so high this time.

Douglas County's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Castle View, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1-1.

Douglas County suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Castle View in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
