Softball Recap: Port Allen Comes Up Short

Port Allen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Rapides Mustangs, falling 16-1. The Pelicans were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Port Allen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Sproles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Sproles has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Port Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Rapides, they moved to 7-11 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Allen will face off against East Iberville at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.47 runs per game on average), something the Pelicans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rapides, they will head out on the road to square off against Georgetown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
