Basketball Recap: Cumby Takes a Loss

Cumby lost against Cooper back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cumby Trojans took a 49-35 bruising from the Cooper Bulldogs. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 10-3 in the first quarter.

Cooper found their leader in sophomore Marilynn Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariah Harper, who posted nine points.

Cumby has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Cooper, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Cumby won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumby is facing Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy at the right time seeing as Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cooper, they will venture away from home to challenge North Hopkins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
