Soccer Game Preview: Lehi vs. American Fork

The Lehi Pioneers will face off against the American Fork Cavemen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lehi fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Skyridge last Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 2-1. Lehi haven't had much luck with Skyridge recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Lehi's goal came courtesy of Rajid Abudu, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, American Fork put another one in the bag last Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Westlake a 1-0 shutout. Given American Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while Westlake are ranked 34th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

American Fork pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four matchups. As for Lehi, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Lehi couldn't quite get it done against American Fork in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
