Softball Recap: Lakeland Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Lakeland waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Walled Lake Central Vikings by a score of 9-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 on Thursday.

Lakeland got a massive performance out of Noelle O'Dowd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Goldman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakeland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Walled Lake Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland will square off against Grosse Pointe North at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday. As for Walled Lake Central, they will take on Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
