Softball Recap: Brazos Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hitchcock

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brazos). Everything went their way against the Hitchcock Bulldogs on Tuesday as the Brazos Cougars made off with an 11-4 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ava Aguilar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last three matches.

In other batting news, Amie Vasquez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Macha, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

Brazos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Brazos picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-13-1. As for Hitchcock, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Coming up, Brazos will take on Boling at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be Boling's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hitchcock, they will face off against Van Vleck at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Van Vleck is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
