Softball Recap: Point Loma Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mar Vista

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Point Loma). They put the hurt on the Mar Vista Mariners with a sharp 14-2 win on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Pointers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Abbie Hindman looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Point Loma got a massive performance out of Avery MacPherson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI MacPherson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Molly O'Donnell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Point Loma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Point Loma's win bumped their record up to 9-2-1. As for Mar Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Point Loma will head out to square off against University City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mar Vista, they will be playing at home against Brawley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mar Vista is facing Brawley at the right time seeing as Brawley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
