Soccer Game Preview: Jasper vs. Lumberton

Jasper hasn't had much luck against Lumberton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jasper Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m.

Jasper managed to keep up with Bridge City until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Jasper came up short against Bridge City, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Lumberton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 9-1 victory. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 2.8 goals per game.

Their offense was hitting Vidor from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Andrew Hansen led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 7-4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Jasper, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-3-1.

Jasper suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lumberton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Jasper avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
