Recap: Northridge Knights vs. Elgin Academy Hilltoppers
Even though the Elgin Academy Hilltoppers scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Northridge Knights still came out on top. Northridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-64 win over Elgin Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Northridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Elgin Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayten Wilder, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Wilder has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahul Gowda, who scored 17 points.
Northridge's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Elgin Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Northridge will square off against Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Elgin Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Illinois Math & Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Illinois Math & Science Academy is ranked 626th, while Elgin Academy is ranked 605th).
