Football Recap: Wallenpaupack Area Comes Up Short Despite Jake Rafferty's Big Defensive Game

Wallenpaupack Area extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-7. They fell 20-7 to the Valley View Cougars. The Buckhorns were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Wallenpaupack Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jake Rafferty.

As for Valley View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Bachman, who rushed for 87 yards and one score. Those 87 rushing yards gave Bachman a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wallenpaupack Area will host Honesdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buckhorns will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.7 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Valley View, they will be playing at home against Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
