Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Lower Dauphin

Lower Dauphin came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Gettysburg Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 back in April.

Sydney Matincheck made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Frye, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Isabella Roeting also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lower Dauphin's record is now 14-5. As for Gettysburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lower Dauphin will host Shippensburg at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Gettysburg, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Biglerville at 4:15 p.m.
