Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Takes a Loss

Mt. Zion lost against Luella back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mt. Zion Bulldogs fell 61-51 to the Luella Lions. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Lions are ranked 99th).

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, don't look at Maxwell Henry. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Keilan Williams, who scored four points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Mt. Zion's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Luella, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Mt. Zion will venture away from home to take on North Clayton at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Luella, they will face off against Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
