Basketball Recap: Brookside Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After only 23 points in their last game, Brookside made sure to put some points up on the board against Oberlin on Wednesday. The Brookside Cardinals walked away with a 60-51 win over the Oberlin The Phoenix. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the The Phoenix , too.

Brookside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Diaz, who went 11 of 24 en route to 28 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Diaz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Markie Aliff, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Brookside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Brookside's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Oberlin, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Brookside will venture away from home to face off against Wellington at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oberlin, they will welcome Clearview at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
