Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Alleman Pioneers
Quincy is 9-1 against the Pioneers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Quincy Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Alleman Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Quincy comes in on six and the Pioneers on five.
Quincy can now show off 18 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 47-24 margin over Quincy Notre Dame.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quincy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Fohey, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Riverdale typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Alleman proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Rams 52-26. Given Alleman's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Rams are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for Alleman, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-3.
Everything came up roses for Quincy against the Pioneers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Quincy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
