Baseball Recap: Wiregrass Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wiregrass can now relate to. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evangel Christian Lightning on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Kings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Zach Crisler was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Crisler was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Wiregrass' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Evangel Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Evangel Christian beat Wiregrass by a score of 10-0 later that day.
